Charlotte "Ann" Mann
2/20/1929 - 2/28/2010





Charlotte “Ann” Mann, age 81, died Sunday February 28, 2010 after a period of declining health. She was born February 20, 1929 in Abilene, TX to James R. and Frances C. (Yahr) Thornbury and grew up in NE Oklahoma. She lived most of her adult life in Alaska where she worked many years for the Alaska Department of Transportation as an engineering assistant. She moved to Mustang in 2006 from Arizona and was a member of the Unity Church. She was a longtime member of Clowns of America, Juneau Joeys Chapter. Ann was preceded in death by her parents; siblings, Jan Thornbury and Jane Cooney; three husbands, John Compton, Troy Swofford and George (Bill) Mann. She is survived by one son Monty Compton and wife Sherri of Yukon, three daughters Frances Compton of Juneau, AK, Shelley Compton of Mustang and Jane Goodrum of Lakebay, WA. Also by seventeen grandchildren, sixteen great grandchildren, one step son Gary Sjoroos and wife Shirley of Sun City, AZ, four step daughters Mereta Brown and husband Derl of Roseburg, OR, Teresa Hargis and husband Bill of Lakeside, OR, Pamela Berman and husband John of Coos Bay, OR and Georgia Mann-Beard of Roseburg, OR; also by her dear and only cousin Helen Blake of Key Largo, FL. In lieu of flowers the family has suggested donations be made to your Local Food Bank or Humane Society. Family may be contacted at 900 First Street, #11, Douglas, AK 99824. Memorial services will be held at 2pm on Friday, March 5, 2010 in the Chapel of The Good Shepherd at McNeil’s Mustang Funeral Service, Mustang, OK. Additional memorial services will be held at a later date this summer in Juneau,  Alaska.
